About the NWA
The Northwest Association for Global Affairs (NWA) founded in 2008 is a non-profit organization seeking to support and foster students’ understanding and education of international affairs through experiential learning opportunities that complement the classroom. The NWA does this through direct and indirect support to organizations that facilitate student involvement in these opportunities, as well as the execution of two large-scale conferences per year (Northwest Model United Nations) that simulates the United Nations. Finally, the NWA also provides opportunities to develop leadership & professional skills that will help prepare student participants for success in their future careers.
Our Mission
The NWA is committed to educating and improving the lives of students by enhancing students’ understanding of the political and institutional workings of the United Nations (UN).
Programs
NWA offers a wide range of impactful programs designed to enrich the community. These include educational conferences for students and team-building resources to foster growth, development, and learning. Each program aims to provide opportunities for students to learn about international affairs, encouraging a more informed, engaged, and empowered community.
Conference and Events
Join us for the Northwest Model United Nation conferences, where passionate students come together to simulate the United Nation, and discuss real-world topics. These conferences provide valuable experiential experience for students and opportunities for the community to gain insights on how future global leaders will address some of the most challenging issues today from human rights, climate change, conflicts, migration, peace and security, and health.
Team Building
Designed to support the development of Model United Nations clubs and teams at the high school and collegiate level. Workshops and activities are tailored to help student teams gain foundational knowledge about the United Nations from organizational structure, resolutions, and topics.
